Govt to overhaul disability payments
Well it’s been a while since the last post on this website, so i’ll add a letter that expresses some very good points! Thanks to Bruce for submitting this one.
————————————-
Re: Govt to overhaul disability welfare system 15/2/08.
Why has welfare become a dirty word?
There is the endless train of talk of moving people off disability pensions, making
the ‘transition’ from welfare to work.
Before the draconian “reform” legislation of the previous government, to be eligible
for the “disability support pension” someone had to be regarded by a medical
practioner as not being able to work more than 30 hours a week. Now it’s 15 hours -
like those dealing with disabililty are to be punished for having the very plight
of disability. Try working 15 - 20 - 25 hours and surviving.
Many, many people on the disability pension (and those now excluded under current
legislation) deal with chronic illness. By the very nature of their illness they
are unable to engage in full time employment. There is no “moving off” or
“transition” to be made, akin to rounding up cattle.
The word rehabilitation is used synonomously with cure. Many people can have their
lives improved by helping them deal with their illnesses more effectively. But
beyond that, for many there is no cure.
The cure from the Howard government was: Welfare to Work. Kinda catch
huh…..Worthless to Wanted….Cripple to Cured…Disability to Desirability.
The current situation with disability reform has very significantly worsened the
situation for those dealing with a disability. Such is the case that there is a
deliberate conflict of interest.
Centrelink and other agencies have increasingly taken on the conflicting roles of
assessing for eligibility (previously rightly held by independent medical
practioners) and providing those benefits. Agencies receive more funding in not
acknowledging the true needs of those dealing with disability - the more people off
disability, the more funding they receive.
What a perverted system!
Further, Centrelink employs ‘intern psychologists’ to make assessments on
eligibility for benefits. Nice title.
These people have completed 4 years of study, but have nothing to recommend
themselves to make assessments on people’s capacity to work – no substantial
teaching or training regards mental illness has taken place in their study – this
only occurs in the postgraduate masters (or doctorate) of clinical psychology, or in
a 2 year supervision program in a real psychology practice.
I am abreast of this knowledge as I have completed the 4 years, I attended the
interview this position, and am completing the clinical masters at present.
It is no accident that centrelink employs clueless people to make assessments - all
in the space of 50 minutes.
Howard’s ‘Myopia’ raped government agencies of integrity. Unfortunately there are a
few too many people working for the government, and not enough public servants.
Get rid of the Ice King’s (Howard’s) legislation, at the least, and in the process
enable a sense of dignity to be restored in how (at least legislatively) those
dealing with disability are viewed.
“But what of the cost, the lack of “added employment” come shreiking cries.
Welfare is the cost of a civilised society.
Get over it.
Centrelink DEWR & Others Hacking!
On February the 1st 2008 Centrelink and it’s fellow counterparts hacked in this web site Centreflunk.com and CentreChat.com, it was morning about 8:00am they were detected and then did the bolt!
It’s pathetic that a web site sharing information publicly available and a web site sharing the truth should be targeted by this Australian Government Organisation. To stoop so low, we know what we share is not what they want us to share however we stand for the freedom we have.
We made complaints with just about everyone, and should be seeing the progress of the investigation come along soon.
Centrelink, DEWR, AFP, NSW GOVT, TASSIE GOVT, WA GOVT & a few others have been making daily visits on our sites, what they do is another thing, sometimes they look, sometimes they try and login with incorrect passwords and one time they even registered an account?
Let’s hope next time they try a move like this they encounter the skills of US and we will fight back directly while they hack.
Cheers

A New Prime Minister….. A New Centrelink?
Well it’s official, Labor has won the 2007 Federal Election…. CentrelinkSucks.Com would like to congratulate Kevin Rudd and Labor for this victory.
Our question is simple, Will a New GOVERNMENT mean a NEW Centrelink….?
THE Labor Party has claimed victory in the federal election, with the race now becoming a matter of whether this will be a narrow win or a landslide triumph for Kevin Rudd and his team.
Can the Labor party bring Australia a better Centrelink… a fairer Welfare System?
Lets hope so…. with a change of government outdated ministers like Joe hockey will no longer be in power…. Already we have some victory for a better Centrelink.
We’ll post more in coming weeks about the new minister and what changes we are going to present.
A Fairness Test For Australia
An Open Fairness
We believe that if Mr Howard is so big on Fairness that he should be subject to our own Fairness Test. Mr Howard seems to think that the Fairness Test he introduced with his Workplace Reform Laws were just that, “FAIR”, We don’t believe they are. We challenge anyone including you Mr John Howard to the Fairness Test For Australia. A simple test that we know Old Johnny boy can’t pass.
Here’s how it works. Simply prove that John Howard has made the following happen for Australia:
Politicians Want To Know Nothing About Centrelink Problems
Centrelink Sucks Dot Com has recently being mailing a number of politicians about Centrelink Problems, We have mailed around 30 ministers, candidates and leaders including Kevin Rudd, John Howard and many key party figures.
Out of about 30 emails and letters sent out we received 4 replies. We have agreed not to publish replies on our website at the request of all responders.
In one response we were informed that there is talk of reform to Centrelink thats if the major parties will back those plans. But Labor would be the best option for Australians wanting a fair Social Security System. We were told that Labor’s policies include some reform to Centrelink and the Welfare System. We understand that this may relate to grants and better rates and application processes for people in education but what about everyone else?
Gary Nairn, currently elected candidate for the seat of Eden-Monaro has not replied to our contact efforts, with him being pressed about the issues of a young girl in his electorate and Centrelink’s treatment which goes way off the scale for unacceptable.
In the same story Labor’s candidate Mike Kelly has also not yet replied. It seems that this issue has already gone to lengths through tribunals etc that these members want nothing to do with it.
It is our mission to see that Centrelink’s issues are properly addressed and what better time to start writing to your local candidate than now.
EVERYONE WHO HAS HAD ISSUES WITH CENTRELINK PLEASE WRITE TO YOUR LOCAL MEMBER AND RAISE THE ISSUES YOU HAVE WITH CENTRELINK.
If you need any assistance in writing a letter to your local candidate please contact us and we will assist you in any way possible.
Cheers
